Fire
Retardant Coating Clear No. 6-3
(For Interior Only)
CA. REG. #C-00416
Flamort
6-3 is a clear and colorless surface impregnation for application
on interior surfaces of unpainted wood and plywood to REDUCE FLAME
SPREAD and SMOKE when exposed to fire. Flamort 6-3 does not contain
Halogen or Sulfur compounds (Chlorine less than 0.005% by wt.; Sulfur
less than 0.020% by wt.)
Surface
impregnation by spraying allows Flamort 6-3 to penetrate into the
surface of the wood. Application shall be with conventional low-pressure
air, air-less, or orchard type paint spray equipment. Spray uniformly
over the entire surface using a coarse nozzle (T-jet style nozzle
may be used). Protect metal and other surfaces, which may be affected
by contact with the Flamort 6-3 over spray. Apply two (2) coats
of Flamort 6-3, each coat at 200 sq. ft. coverage per gallon, with
at least 24 hours drying time between coats. Proper drying conditions
of temperature and humidity are necessary. Treated surfaces may
be left unfinished, stained, painted, or coated with a varnish or
lacquer (non-water base type). If any residue appears on the surface,
sand and wipe clean before applying the finish coat. All equipment
should be cleaned with water. Before finish system is applied, moisture
content of flame retardant wood must not exceed 12% and must be
stabilized at least four (4) days.
Treating
a test sample is recommended to ensure compatibility with finishes.
We are available for consultation should you require help in selecting
compatible finishes.
